The Japanese stewartia is a small, slow-growing, pyramidal deciduous tree that produces stunning white flowers in early summer. In the autumn it gives vibrant red leaves. It is best grown in well-drained soil and likes full sun to partial shade. It requires frequent watering as it is not dry tolerant. It does not need pruning.
