The Japanese maple is a deciduous shrub with dark burgundy foliage throughout the season, deep purple foliage in the spring and lobed palm-shaped leaves in the autumn. It is used for shade, best in full sun and shade, prefers to grow in moist conditions and doesn’t like to dry out, so rich soil is preferred. The full height is 20’, with a low canopy 4’ from the ground. Burlap in the winter to protect from wind.
